MP govt partners with top business chambers for investors' summit

Madhya Pradesh state government has joined hands with top business chambers of India to host forthcoming three-day global investors' summit to be organized in Indore.

Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry and PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry have been made partners for the mega show.

"State industry minister Yashodhra Raje Scindia has extended invitations to as many as hundred corporate houses besides state commerce and industry department has also sent invitations to 82 top executives of various companies," a government spokesperson said here today.

In its endeavor to attract foreign direct investment in the state, as many as nine meetings had been organized in Brazil, Germany, Argentina and all these meetings, according the spokesperson, are supposed to yield results in terms of investment commitment in the Global Investors Summit.

"State commerce and industry minister Scindia also organized meetings with ambassadors of Australia, Finland, Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil, Japan, South Africa, and Germany in New Delhi under Ambassador Connect programme to showcase investment potential in Madhya Pradesh," said the spokesperson.

Recently, the state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had discussions and one to one meetings in a road-show organized in association with Confederation of Indian Industry.

During the last five years, state had organized four successful investors meet in the state and attracted investment proposals of more than Rs 4 lakh crore from various companies. Anil Ambani promoted Reliance Industries in 2010 Global Investors Summit in Khajuraho had committed that his company was investing Rs 2.5 crore per hour in Madhya Pradesh. The company has already set up Sasan Ultra Mega power project and a cement plant in Madhya Pradesh.

Similarly, Kumar Mangalam Birla had proposed to set up world's largest Alumina Smelter plant, which has taken shape in Singrauli district of the state. Shashi Ruia of Essar group has also set up a 1,200 Mw power plant as committed during 2010 Khajuraho Investors meeting.

"During 2013-14 only, the state has attracted an investment of Rs 13,537 crore investment proposal," the spokesperson said.
