Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second largest partner in the Congress-led UDF in Kerala, today made it clear that it would not mediate between the front and the KC-M, which had left the alliance two days ago.

"I will not be a mediator to bring back KC-M to UDF fold," former state minister and IUML parliamentary party leader P K Kunhalikutty told reporters here today.

KC-M, led by former finance minister K M Mani, had severed its three decade long ties with UDF claiming the party received only "insults" and "humiliations" from the Congress.

Kunhalikutty said KC-M has the freedom to take any political decision it wanted.

Kunhalikutty's statement comes in the wake of reports that UDF has asked the IUML leader to take the initiative to hold talks with KC-M for a patch-up.

IUML has its own clear opinion on the present political development and that would be disclosed after holding discussions within the party, he said.

Yesterday, 82-year-old Mani had said that no mediation would help change his party's decision.

Giving a jolt to the Congress, KC-M on Sunday had announced its decision to snap its over three-decade old ties and also resolved to function as a separate bloc in the state assembly.

Meanwhile, a meeting of UDF leaders is scheduled to be held here tomorrow to discuss the recent political development.
