Birla Cotsyn (India) Ltd., part of the Rs 3,000 crore Yash Birla Group (YBG) conglomerate, has posted impressive Q3 results by generating steep revenue (unaudited) of Rs 136.94 Cr for the quarter ended December 31st, 2010.
Segment-wise, revenues from Textile- fabric stood at Rs 86.64 Cr compared to Rs 60.57 Cr in the corresponding quarter last year, while revenues from Textile yarn for the same quarter jumped to Rs 47.94 Cr from Rs 36.53 Cr. The company reported Profit from Ordinary Activities before Tax (PBT) of Rs 3.00 Cr in the third quarter ended December 31st, 2010, as against Rs 3.07 Cr in the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue for the Company for nine months jumped to Rs 398.36 Cr. Compared to corresponding last nine months of last year Rs 242.44 Cr. The Company reported profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 5.45 Cr as against Rs 5.19 Cr in the corresponding year.
Speaking on what led to the growth of the company, Mr. P. V. R Murthy – Group Finance Director, Yash Birla Group said,” We see huge potential in our textile business owing to the increase in constant demand from rural India and improvement in exports. We plan to further strengthen our business by foraying into the retail segment and thereby adding to our bottom lines.”
