A delegation from Georgia College State University (GCSU), USA led by Dr. Dorothy Leland, President, Georgia College State University visited Amity University to sign a MOU between the two Universities. Dr. Dorothy Leland was accompanied by Dr. Sandra Jordon, Provost and Vice President, Georgia College, Mr. Matthew Liao- Troth, Dean, Whitney Bunting College of Business and Mr. Ani Agnihotri, Founder and Managing Partner of The US INDIA Business and Research Center (USIBRC).
Maj. Gen. K. Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) and Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor, AUUP welcomed the delegation.
During the visit Dr. Leland, identified several potential areas of collaboration that included Environmental Science, Logistics and short term courses in miscellaneous fields. Talking about Georgia College State University, Dr. Leland shared “For four consecutive years, Georgia College has been identified as one of America’s best Universities. Most recently, U.S. News & World Report, the nation’s most trusted authority on the subject, ranked Georgia College as one of the top Master’s Universities in the south. Georgia College remains the only University in Georgia ranked in the category of “A Strong Commitment to Teaching.”
Expressing her interest and delight at the signing of the agreement of GCSU’s partnership with Amity, Dr. Sandra Jordon shared that collaboration with Amity is GCSU’s first MOU in India and said “Georgia College & State University, the state’s designated Public Liberal Arts University combines the educational experience expected at esteemed private liberal arts colleges with the affordability of public higher education. Its four colleges – arts and sciences, business, education and health sciences provide 6,600 undergraduate and graduate students with an exceptional learning environment that extends beyond the classroom, with hands on involvement with faculty research, community service, residential learning communities, study abroad and myriad internships.”
Responding to the interest of Georgia College State University (GCSU), Dr. Gurinder Singh said “The partnership between Amity and GCSU is to be nurtured over time to broaden and blossom. With the signing of the MOU, both universities can introduce a new way of thinking and learning to the students wherein students of GCSU and Amity will benefit from the joint programmes offered by the two Universities with the aid of E – learning and Faculty exchange.”
The meeting was attended by the senior academicians and Heads of Institutions from Amity University.
