The number of complaints was just about two lakh per year when this government took over and today it is nearly 10 lakh per year, he said.
Singh said the number of grievances being received had multiplied as much as five times in the last two years, thus depicting the faith of citizens in the redressal mechanism of the central government.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances under the Union Ministry of Personnel has achieved record 95 per cent grievance disposal rate, he said.
As part of a new practice started by him three months ago, he today made telephone calls, randomly, to different complainants for a reality check and verification of grievance redressal as well as to receive their feedback.
Among the complainants to whom Singh made phone calls was Azhar Hussain from Kolkata who had filed a grievance related to the issue of ATM card. Azhar thanked him for his unexpected personal response and early disposal of his grievance, a press release issued by the Personnel Ministry said.
Nidhi said, she had received her fellowship, it said.
Vijay Kumar Mittal, a senior citizen from Uttar Pradesh, was also called up by the Minister to verify the redressal of his grievance regarding senior citizen saving scheme.
The Minister expressed happiness that young as well as senior citizens were taking keen interest in listing their grievances with the government. He also sought suggestions from complainants for improvement in redressal mechanism.
