The victim, identified as Saurabh Sharma, lived at a DDA colony, where the park was situated. He went to the park for flying kite on Independence Day evening when the incident took place near a Delhi Jal Board installation.
Later, locals rushed him to Holy Family Hospital, where he was declared brought dead, said a police official.
Locals called up the police control room around 10 pm and reported that the boy had been rushed to the hospital.
The victim's body was then sent for a post-mortem examination, said the official.
Later, the police registered a case against unknown persons under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) at Badarpur police station, the official added.
