The van was coming from Chiniot district, some 200 kilometres from here, to Lahore when it collided with the truck coming from opposite direction at Tahirabad.
The gas cylinder of the van exploded that put it on fire.
Most of the victims could not get off the van and were burnt alive.
"Most deaths occurred as gas cylinder fixed in the van went off and the passengers trapped inside fell victim to the fire," Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 spokesman Jam Sajjad told PTI.
The dead also include three members of a family.
