allegedly cheating people from Andhra Pradesh by selling them disposable plate making machines and promising to buy the finished goods at high rates, police said today.
Manoj Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar were arrested after police received four complaints against them.
"The duo used to give advertisements in local newspapers of Andhra Pradesh luring people to buy 'dona' and disposable plate making machine to earn huge monthly income in return," DCP (North-West) P Karunakaran said.
"They used to promise to provide free raw material and take back the finished goods and to pay labour charges at Rs 260 to 1,000 per person. They also promised that the cost of maintenance of the machine will also be borne by the company," he said.
After that, the duo received the consignment of finished goods but refused to pay labour charges and stopped taking calls of the complainants.
When the complainants came to Delhi to meet Singh and Kumar and asked for their labour charges, they were threatened to go back to Andhra Pradesh or face dire consequences, police said.
During interrogation, the duo told police that they had duped a number of people in this way. They had set up two companies, Chaitanya Enterprises and JK Enterprises, to cheat Andhraites.
