At least two Haitian migrants have died and another 12 were rescued when their boat capsized near the Dominican Republic.
Navy Vice Admiral Edwin Dominici says an estimated 20 migrants were aboard the boat and that authorities are looking for additional survivors.
He said rescued migrants told authorities that the boat departed early today for neighboring Puerto Rico when it capsized a few miles from shore.
Navy spokesman Juan Pablo Sandoval said the boat had been stolen earlier from a Dominican tourism company.
Haitian migrants are increasingly traveling to the neighboring Dominican Republic to try and reach the US territory of Puerto Rico. Dozens of stranded migrants also have been rescued near Puerto Rico in recent weeks.
