A joint team of Assam Police and Army charged at a KPLT militant hideout at Japarajan village in Bokajan sub-division, Karbi Anglong SP Mugdhajyoti Dev Mahanta told PTI.
The extremists, on seeing the forces, fired at them prompting the personnel to retaliate.
"The encounter sustained for about 15 minutes, after which we captured two terrorists. One of them managed to escape," Mahanta said, adding that the two were identified as Bidya Teron (30) and Rajesh Ingleng (21).
The security team has recovered one AK-56 rifle, one magazine and 21 rounds of live ammunition from the apprehended militants, he added.
