Morigaon Government Higher Secondary School involved in an alleged corruption case were suspended from service with immediate effect.
Morigaon district Deputy Commissioner Vishal Solanki told PTI today that the two teachers had allegedly misappropriated Rs 1.4 lakh meant for free school uniform released by the Assam Sarba Shiksha Abhijan.
When they were in charge during the school principal's leave period, Solanki said, the two teachers without authority withdrew the amount from the Gramin Bikas Bank here in November last year.
The scam came to light as the school students were yet to receive their free uniform.
The two teachers were suspended from service yesterday, an FIR was filed and a magisterial enquiry instituted against them, he said.
The two teachers - Nipul Borkotoki and Padmeswar Medhi - were absconding and a search was on, the DC added.
