22,000 children severely malnourished in Raj: report

Rajasthan's State Health Mission has decided to place special emphasis on eradicating malnutrition among other measures to tackle the issue of infant mortality in the state.
"Considering the impressive results of the community-based nutrition management programme in 13 high-priority districts, the health mission will be launched in other districts too," Director of State's Health Mission, Naveen Jain said.
According to a recent survey, 22,000 children are severely malnourished in the state.
"During the Nutrition Programme, around 2 lakh children between the age group of 0-5 years were screened in 574 villages of 10 high priority and 3 tribal districts," he said.

"Around 600 severely malnourished children were referred to Malnutrition Treatment Center. The remaining 9000 children were given treatment and declared free from malnutrition," Jain added.
