The nor'wester, a weather pattern that develops in the Bay of Bengal during the summer, hit the country last night ravaging several houses uprooting trees and bringing down electricity lines.
Most of the victims died after they were buried under collapsed houses and trees while some were electrocuted by electrical wires from fallen poles.
Bogra district, 197 km from capital Dhaka, was worst hit as 19 people were killed in the storm, according to police and fire officials.
Fire service officials said two of the victims died in Dhaka as a wall collapsed in Mirpur during the storm, killing a woman and her six-month old baby.
Another person drowned in Jamuna River in Jamalpur after a boat capsized during the storm.
