The part of second floor of Badwariya Mansion at Lala Nigam Road in Colaba collapsed around 2.50 pm, while the repair work was underway. Three labourers were injured in the incident, a senior police official said.
The ground plus two building was currently vacant, he said adding that the wounded workers have been admitted to hospital.
Fire brigade, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials and police carried out the rescue work.
A case under IPC sections 288 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (whoever commits mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards) have been registered against the contractor, the official said.
