4 arrested for looting train passengers in Kanpur

Four persons of a gang who allegedly looted railway passengers by lacing their food with intoxicants were today arrested, railway police said.
The railway police intercepted the gang at the Kanpur Central railway station. During checking, 225 gram intoxicant powder, a pistol, two cartridges, a knife, mobile phone, and Rs 1,500 were seized from their possession, a railway police spokesperson said.
The accused have been identified as Mukesh Kumar from Auraiya, Nurul Hasan from Bahraich, Ajay from Kannauj, and Raman from Hamipur, he said.
They have confessed to having looted train passengers and are being interrogated and information about their accomplices is being collected, he said.
