"Of the 42 new cases, 33 are from Lucknow, four from Allahabad, two from Bareilly, one each from Unnao, Shahjahanpur and Raebareli while the death toll has reached 16," a health department official said here.
With this, the number of H1N1 virus patients has surged to 689 in the state, the maximum of 549 being reported in the state capital, where leave of all the health department officials has been cancelled, he said.
Eight deaths have been reported from Lucknow, three from Bareilly, two from Kanpur, one each from Saharanpur, Unnao, and Badaun districts.
Chief Medical Officer, Lucknow, SNS Yadav said that of total 549 patients reported from the state capital,400 have recovered and are leading a normal life.
