5 college lecturers among 7 killed in road mishap in Haryana

Seven persons including five college lecturers and two students, were killed today and 22 others injured, when their bus collided with a truck on Saha-Shahzadpur road near here, police said.
Out of total 29 lecturers and students travelling in the bus, five critically injured were referred to PGIMER, Chandigarh, whereas 14 others who sustained injuries are being treated in Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment and the remaining three are undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Mahesh Nagar, they said.
After the accident, State Health Minister, Anil Vij, who is also the Ambala Cantt MLA, Police Commissioner O P Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Singh Brar and other officials of the district administration met the injured people at the hospitals here.
The lecturers who lost their lives have been identified as Vipin, a resident of Tagore Garden, Ambala Cantt; Parminder Singh, a resident of Behbalpur village; Kesar Singh, a resident of Sounda village; Deepak Sharma, a resident of Manav Chowk, Ambala City and Aamir Khan, a resident of Defence Enclave, Ambala Cantt, an official release here said.
All of them were lecturers in SRM College, Bhurewala and Devi Dayal College, Mauli, it said.
The two students who were killed in the accident have been identified as Manish Kumar and Ankit Gupta, both residents of Ambala Cantt, it further said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered, police said.
Meanwhile, an untoward incident involving another college bus was averted this evening when fire broke out in the engine of the bus belonging to Galaxy Global Group of Institutes, police said.
The bus carrying around 30 students was coming towards Ambala City and when it was crossing near police line at Ambala City area, smoke suddenly filled the bus.
The students raised an alarm and alerted the driver who immediately stopped the bus and the fire was later put off, they said.
