5000 kg of poppy skin seized

Five tons of poppy skin, an ingredient used to make heroin, was seized and two persons were arrested in this connection, at Rothbari near here, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck on NH 24 and seized the contraband, Additional superintendent of police (rural) Deepak Sarkar said.
The poppy skin has a market value of Rs 10 lakh, he said adding two persons, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh and Malda respectively, were arrested.
