"It was decided that 782 tea estates of the state will be electrified and installation of separate meters for every household will be completed in a phased manner on a priority basis, benefiting those residing in tea estates," an official release said.
Free electricity connection has also been provided to 75 lakh households in the state so far and the number would grow in the days to come, it said.
The decisions were taken at a high-level meeting conducted by the newly appointed Power minister Rockybul Hussain.
The minister took stock of the power situation prevailing in the state and discussed threadbare ways and means to improve upon power generation and distribution more efficiently in the state.
Further, he directed all officials to forge good working relationship with the masses and achieve peak hour demand with the commissioning of new power generation projects soon.
