Arun Kumar (8) was crossing the road when he was hit by the private bus coming from Mathura yesterday, police said.
The driver of the bus tried to flee the spot but was chased by some youths on their motorbike, following which he abandoned the bus and took refuge in the nearby police outpost.
The locals blocked traffic on the Mathura-Vrindaban road for over two hours yesterday and burnt the bus, police said.
The traffic was restored when Singh announced that the family of the 8-year-old-boy would be provided a house and Rs 21,000 as compensation.
"The driver of the bus has been captured and the family of the deceased has been offered a house along with Rs 21,000," City Magistrate Hem Singh said.
