Investigation into the alleged malpractices in the group-IV TNPSC examination in Rameswaram and Keezhakarai centres in Ramanathapuram district has revealed that 99 people who had taken theexamination on September 1, 2019 had used pen with disappearing ink, police said on Friday.

The 99 candidates, on the advice of middlemen, had opted for exam centres in Rameswaram and Keezhakari and had first marked their answers with an ink that would vanish after sometime.

Later with the assistance of people conducting the examination and middlemen penned the correct answers marked in the answer-sheets.

This came to light during the CB-CID investigation after the TNPSC officials got suspicious of 39 people from Rameswaram and Keezhakarai centres clearing examination within the first 100 ranks.

The 39 were detained for interrogation so were those from other districts.

The interrogation held on January 13, 2020 revealed that the malpractices had indeed taken place.

The TNPSC, after the investigation, found totally 99 people involved in the scam and banned them from writingthe examinationin future.

The TNPSC also issued a new ranklist and selected those who had come on merit.

Totally, 52 people were involved in the scam, according to the CB-CID.

At present, two tahsildhars and 10 other officials were being quizzed and further action would be taken after the completion of the investigation.
