Reacting to Akhilesh Yadav's remark of "purifying the state government offices in 2022 with Gangajal", Uttar Pradesh state Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary today said it was a "wishful thinking".
The Dairy Development Minister suggested the Samajwadi Party would be defeated in 2022 state polls as well and Yadav would never get "such opportunity".
"It is his (Yadav's) wishful thinking. I am confident that he would not get such opportunity in his life," he said.
Former CM Yadav had yesterday said, "When we will form the government again in 2022, we will sprinkle Gangajal not only on 5-Kalidas Marg (the CM's house), but also at all the government offices (to purify them)."
The Minister, who also holds the Waqk and Minority Welfare portfolios, was critical of alleged mishandling of Waqf Board saying it had "monopoly" of a single individual.
He ordered a probe into cases of encroachment, capturing or misuse of Waqf properties.
He also announced establishing of a 'Bhajan Sthal' at Ayodhya with an investment of Rs 13.75 crore and in Chitrakoot with an investment of 14.67 crore.
"Noted pilgrim centres of Vrindaban, Baldeo, Govardhan, Nandgaon and Barsana would be equipped with modern facilities to attract more pilgrims," he said.
He said a Gita research centre would be set up in Mathura and the number of senior citizens going on pilgrimage throughShravan Yatrawould be increased.
He said effort would be made to give the status of 'Tirth Sthal' to Mathura.
He said since there are BJP governments in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and and Haryana, the idea of constructing a circular road in Brij Chaurasi Kos Yatra may now be a reality.
