"Punjab does not have adequate water to irrigate its own agricultural fields and the groundwater level has also gone down to alarmingly low levels. In such a situation, it is not in a position to give water to any other state," party's Punjab affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had yesterday clearly stated that he was against the construction of the canal, he said.
Singh rued that successive governments in Punjab raked up the SYL issue before every election but they lacked the will to resolve it.
"The people of the state specially in Malwa region are suffering from water-born diseases," he said.
