AAP govt anti-Dalit, anti-poor: Delhi BJP

BJP today accused the AAP government of being "anti-Dalit" and claimed it was trying to "retrench" temporary sanitation workers and other Class IV staffers of the municipal corporations.
Citing a circular purportedly issued by Delhi government, BJP's state unit president Satish Upadhyay said conditions were imposed on the municipal corporations when a loan of Rs 551 crore was extended to them for ending a sanitation workers' strike here.
He alleged that the conditions set are "anti-Dalit" and "anti-poor".
Sharing a copy of the circular issued on February 4, he said the AAP government, while giving the loan, has laid down conditions like "no fresh recruitment of Safai Karmcharis (sanitation workers) and Beldars and fresh regularisation" and "discontinuation of Safai Karmcharis and Beldars engaged on temporary basis in a phased manner within one year".

Upadhyay also alleged that Delhi government was "harassing" Dalit officers and those belonging to the backward classes.
"On the one hand, it is bent upon retrenching the lower- level employees, on the other, it has been harassing officials belonging to Dalit and backward classes," the Delhi BJP chief charged.
