In the wake of transfer of whistleblower IAS officer Ashok Khemka, Aam Aadmi Party today accused the BJP-led Haryana government of sheltering "mafia" and victimising "honest" officers in the state.
The party claimed that Khemka, who was holding the position of Commissioner-Secretary Haryana Transport department, had launched a drive against transport mafia which caused "discomfort" in power corridors leading to his transfer for the 46th time in his career.
"It's unfortunate that BJP, which had made Khemka's victimisation by Congress' (Bhupinder Singh) Hooda government an electoral issue in Haryana elections, is resorting to same tactics to shelter mafia in the state.
"BJP is no different from Congress when it comes to institutionalising corruption, shielding mafia and victimising whistleblowers and honest officers," a party statement said.
The party sought to remind BJP that Khemka is the same officer who had "exposed" Robert Vadra's "shady" land deals and had taken action against him.
"Now Khemka has become inconvenient to the BJP due to his commitment to the issue of transparency in government dealings and his zero-tolerance for corruption," it said.
The party also raised the issue of former CVO of AIIMS Sanjeev Chaturvedi saying after taking charge in Delhi it had placed a request before the BJP government at the Centre to shift Chaturvedi to Delhi government on deputation.
"But the request is yet to be responded to...The signal is clear that if the officers do not surrender before corrupt elements, they will be victimised by BJP and Congress governments alike," it said.
