A senior official of Maharashtra government's Law and Judiciary Department was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here today for allegedly accepting bribe, ACB said today.
The officer, M Kadam an Under Secretary in the Department, was arrested while accepting the first installment of a Rs four-lakh bribe from a candidate seeking appointment to a notary's post in the department.
The complainant approached Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after the under secretary asked for the bribe.
Fadnavis then asked ACB Chief Pravin Dixit to take action after which the ACB laid a trap at Hotel Shivala near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and nabbed the officer.
