The Chief Minister reviewed the ongoing drought relief activities with his senior cabinet colleagues and officials at the Secretariat here.
Palaniswami reviewed the progress of various measures taken to address water shortage in different parts of the state and directed officials to expedite them.
"The Chief Minister sanctioned an additional Rs 100 crore towards drinking water schemes," an official release said.
This was in addition to the Rs 501.70 crore already allocated for this purpose, it added.
Palaniswami directed District Collectors and other IAS officials to conduct study of the ongoing drought relief measures and take further appropriate action.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the Rs 2247 crore input subsidy scheme announced earlier for farmers affected by drought, the release said.
Tamil Nadu is facing its worst drought in 140 years, prompting the the state government to declare all 32 districts as 'drought-hit,' and roll out a series of schemes to mitigate the people's plight.
