West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Adhir Chowdhury today termed as false the ruling Trinamool Congress' accusation against him and his family for the murder of a TMC party supporter.
Stating that he was used to 'false cases' being lodged against him, the Minister of State for Railways told an election rally, "If a cattle-thief is killed on the Indo-Bangladesh border they (TMC) lodge an FIR against me."
"This (lodging FIRs against him) has been happening against me for the last 34 years and I am quite used to this," he stated referring to the erstwhile Left Front rule in the state.
The TMC had yesterday lodged an FIR against Chowdhury for the murder of a party supporter in Murshidabad district.
The FIR was lodged against Chowdhury and 27 others for the murder of Badal Sheikh at Char Paraspur village under Jalangi police station.
Chowdhury also alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government, instead of freeing the state from its debt burden was actually adding to it.
"She has been talking about freeing the state from the debt burden ... But look in the last three years she has added another Rs 55000 crore more to what the Left had taken," he claimed.
Chowdhury, also alleged that the Trinamool Congress was misappropriating funds from the free cycle scheme for students.
