The 49-year-old, who plays Pi's father in the film, said though he just had a small role, it is an honour to be a part of the project.
"I am very happy, although I am just a small fragment of the film it feels good that it has been appreciated. Ang is an adorable person in real life and a fantastic director. When I meet him next I just want to hug him," said Adil.
The film about an Indian boy adrift in the ocean for months with a Bengal tiger was primarily shot in Pondicherry and Munnar in India.
The movie also stars debutante Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan and Tabu in lead roles.
