Decomposed body of a tiger cub was found in a forest under Ghunghuti range in Umaria district, where the famous Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is located, last night.
The carcass was found hours after the area was cordoned off following the recovery of a dead adult tiger yesterday, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Forest Department Rahul Mishra told PTI.
The cub appeared to be less than one year old, he said.
Forest officials had detained some persons suspected to be behind the killing of two animals, he said.
The carcasses were disposed of today after autopsy, he said. "We have sent viscera of both the big cats to Jabalpur and Sagar for tests," Mishra added.
