Addressing the inaugural session of the Advocate Generals' conference here, Qureshi said they have an important role to play in political, legal, constitutional, statutory, legislative and administrative functions of the system.
The Constitutional obligation of the Advocate General of a state is vital as it is he who can create an environment where justice is speedily delivered to people, he said.
The manifold responsibilities of Advocate Generals should include advising the government on developing a mechanism for enhancing timely and inexpensive delivery of justice to people, he said.
Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court Barin Ghosh presided over the inaugural session which was also attended by Principal Secretary (Law) D P Gairola and Advocate Generals of several states including Haryana, Goa, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
