Followers from more than 30 countries are expected to participate in the 124th 'Jalsa Salana', the three-day annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, at its headquarters in Qadian town of Punjab's Gurdaspur district from December 26 to December 28.
Community representatives Maulana Hamid Kausar, K Tariq Ahmad, Mujahid Ahmad, Ataul Mujeed Lone and Sami-ur Rahman today said the world is passing through very turbulent times.
"There is an overwhelming sense that things are quickly getting out of control and the people are looking for someone to step on to the stage to offer concrete, solid, guidance in which they can have confidence and that speaks to their heart and mind alike and gives them hope that there is a path that can lead to peace," they said.
The 'Jalsa Salana' Qadian, one of the largest Muslim gatherings in India, aims at promoting global peace, harmony, tolerance, brotherhood and mutual respect, they said.
This was initiated in 1891 by the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Like previous years, this event will feature a session on world religions on December 27.
In this session representatives of various religions participate and express their views to promote global peace, brotherhood, tolerance, mutual respect and understanding.
Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other local office-bearers of political parties and dignitaries along with the spiritual leaders participate in this session, they said.
It will also feature a keynote address by the Khalifa of Islam Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, live from London on December 28.
