Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today questioned the method and veracity of poll surveys that have predicted a dismal showing for Samajwadi Party, and said his party would perform better than the last elections when it got 23 out of 80 seats in the state.

"We all know how these poll surveys are conducted and how samples are taken. No one has taken samples in Kannauj, Mainpuri and Etawah, then where have these samples come from?" Yadav asked, while addressing a press conference on the occasion of his government completing two years in office.

"One newspaper had recently claimed that all such surveys are 'bakwas' (rubbish). They tell some truth but the real truth is the fight conducted at booth level," he said, adding his party does not make assessments on the basis of surveys.

"Samajwadi Party has no competitor in Uttar Pradesh and last time also it was the same. The surveys were predicting what they are saying this time also, but the results were totally different," Yadav said.

Listing out works undertaken by his government in the past two years, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that based on the performance his party would put up a good show in the Lok Sabha elections.

"We have tried to give shape to most of the development promises made to every section of society," Yadav, who is SP's state unit president, said.

He said SP activists have a clear target before them, that is to ensure that the party wins maximum seats on the basis of the works done by his government.
