Amritsar, Ludhiana to be announced 'Safe City' by Dec: Sukhbir

All formalities for the 'Safe City' project in Amritsar and Ludhiana would be completed by December, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.
Amritsar and Ludhiana will emerge as the state's first "Safe Cities" by December, Badal said at a meeting with police officers to review the functioning of recently-launched '181 Police Helpline'.
Amritsar and Ludhiana would be equipped with ultra-modern security devices to maintain safety and smooth flow of traffic under the 'Safe City' project.
A total of 466 locations had been identified in Amritsar where CCTV cameras would be installed and a survey in this regard was nearing completion in Ludhiana, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister asked senior officers to make the police helpline more responsive and accountable with timely delivery of justice.
Badal directed police Commissioners and senior superintendents of police to personally ring up complainants and get feedback.
Each officer should call minimum ten complainants daily, so that proper feedback could be accessed, he said.
ADGP (Law and Order) Dinkar Gupta said till September 11, a total of 638 complaints had been received in '181 Police Helpline', out of which feedback was taken from 398 callers.
