Health and education sectors play a vital role in rural development. Accordingly, the state was concentrating on providing better medical care by strengthening government hospitals, he said.
Keeping this in mind, the government has earmarked Rs 6,000 crore for the health sector in the current fiscal. Most of this will towards improving medical care in villages, where a majority of people reside, Ramakrishnudu said.
Services like mobile medical vans, free medical tests and institutional deliveries were being extended to villages, the minister said.
All existing vacancies of medical and para medical staff in government hospitals would be filled soon, he said, adding, 10 new PHCs had been sanctioned for the district.
The work on Godavari left branch canal would be completed by 2017 and the project, on completion, will provide irrigation facility in upland area of the district, he said.
