The Allahabad High Court today provided last opportunity to the state government counsel to respond to a PIL, alleging anomalies/irregularities in civil police constables recruitment process, within five days.
The Lucknow bench of the court specifically asked the government counsel as to what were the reasons for delay in publishing the list of the selected candidates in main examination of the aforesaid recruitment.
Justice Devendra Kumar Arora passed this order on a pending writ petition filed by 31 applicants, challenging the whole selection process.
The petitioners have sought a direction to quash the whole selection process of constable recruitment in UP.
Earlier, the court had provided a week's time to the state counsel to seek instructions in this matter from the state government to file it's response, which could not be obtained, the petitioners counsel said.
According to petitioners' counsel Vivek Pandey, a total of 41,610 posts of constables were advertised in year 2013 and after examination, result was declared on March 19, 2015.
He alleged that 34,000 applicants have been shown passed who belong to two districts-- Etawah and Manpuri.
It was further alleged that in the selection process, irregularities and anomalies at large scale were committed.
On the other hand the state government counsel had prayed for and was granted time by the court to seek complete instructions in the matter for placing it's response as a last opportunity.
The court while passing the aforesaid order, directed to list this matter on April 15.
