Another batch of pilgrims leaves for Amarnath shrine

A fresh batch of 1,038 pilgrims today left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.
The batch consisting of 810 men, 170 women, eight children and 50 sadhus left in a motorcade of 28 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 04:30 AM, a police official said.
The convoy has already crossed Kud on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
With today's batch, as many as 41,271 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
Meanwhile 2,79,171 pilgrims have visited the shrine till last evening.
