The trust members alleged that Kerala has reduced the Chitra Pournami Festival at Kannagi temple in Mangala Medu in Idukki district, from three days to nine hours over the years.
The temple is open to devotees only once a year during the month of April/May for the Chithrapournami celebrations. On this full moon day, priests of Tamil Nadu and Kerala conduct ritualistic prayers at the temple.
Preparations for the festival are supervised by officials of Idukki district and Theni.
