Arunachal Pradesh has sought special assistance from the Centre for development of three eastern districts of the state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today said.
"For the development of three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, a special assistance has been sought from Union Home Ministry," Khandu said while attending the Moh Mol festival of the Tangsa community at Miao in Changlang district.
Khandu said the Centre is serious on development of the backward districts and is trying to address the insurgency issue.
All factions of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) have presence in the three districts bordering Nagaland.
Khandu expressed hope that under the NDA government, the issue would be resolved soon and no stone would be left unturned in meeting the developmental aspirations of the people, an official release said.
The chief minister informed that Scheduled Tribe status for Yobin tribe is being expedited and the Centre has expressed no objections in granting the status.
He also said that many tribes of Arunachal do not find mention in the ST order list and all such matters are being pursued with the Centre.
Khandu also laid the foundation stone for office of Chief Engineer (Eastern Zone) of RWD and WRD departments in presence of Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, WRD Minister Kamlung Mossang, state BJP President Tapir Gao and other dignitaries.
Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated the Namdapha Degree College that has been granted temporary affiliation by Rajiv Gandhi University for start of its undergraduate courses this year.
