Former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell today launched a PUMA store at the Select City Walk mall here.
"Select City Walk (New Delhi) saw one of the coolest PUMA store launch with the 'Sub-10 King' Asafa Powell today," a release said.
"The #mannequinchallenge video was the hero of the launch," it added.
Powell, a PUMA athlete, is known as 'Sub-10 King' for running 100m dash below 10 seconds for 98 times, the maximum by any sprinter. He has held the 100m world record between 2005 and 2008. His personal best is 9.72 seconds.
PUMA has brought him to India to engage with his fans and followers through h them.
Yesterday, PUMA hosted the 33-year-old Jamaican sprinter along with Indian sprint legends P T Usha and Milkha Singh at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. Others present were former athletes Ashwini Nachappa and Rachita Mistri, and current runners Amiya Kumar Mallick and Brinston Miranda.
Abhishek Ganguly, MD, PUMA India said, "Our motivation behind bringing Asafa Powell to India is two fold -- to give the fans an experience of a lifetime and to promote running as a sport in India. We want India to be a country that runs, a country that is more inclined towards fitness.
"Our endeavours is to inspire everyone to adopt an active lifestyle and an icon like Asafa can only ignite that thought. It has been an absolute privilege having a champion like him among us.
