Ayurvedic doc among 3 arrested for determining sex of foetus
Press Trust of India Jaipur Three persons, including an Ayurvedic doctor, were today arrested for allegedly performing foetal sex determination test at a clinic near Chandpole area here, a Health and medical department official said.
A woman complained that the trio charged Rs 25,000 for conducting the test, he said.
Acting on the complaint, a team of PCPNDT cell of medical and health directorate today laid a trap and arrested all the three for violating Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act and conducting foetal sex determination test, he said.
The accused have been identified as Dr Bhanwar Lal Singothia, an Ayurvedic doctor, his son Ram Prasad and a tout Savar Kanwar, he said.
Singothia for the past one year was conducting the illegal test at his clinic for which the tout used to bring patients, he added.
