Presiding over a meeting here to review the progress of the three iconic projects, Badal sanctioned Rs 36 crore for the Bhagwan Valmiki memorial in Ram Tirath Temple at Amritsar, Rs 25 crore and Rs 15 crore for Jang-e-Azadi memorial at Kartarpur (Jalandhar) and War memorial in Amritsar, respectively.
The Chief Minister directed the Principal Secretary, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, to monitor the progress of these projects personally by regularly visiting the memorial sites.
Badal reiterated that these memorials were very close to his heart and he was passionately attached to them as he never considered them to be mere monuments but a vital link to connect the youngsters with our rich cultural legacy, an official release said here.
Meanwhile, presiding over another meeting here, which was to review the progress of Meritorious Schools, Badal gave his nod to sanction Rs 20 crore for the ongoing construction of two such schools at Sangrur and Ferozepur, besides hostels for boys and girls within the Meritorious School at Patiala.
