Diversified business entity Bajaj Group today announced a contribution Rs 10 crore to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to aid rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts in the earthquake-ravaged Nepal.
A further sum of Rs 50 lakh has been provided to SEWA, an NGO dedicated to needy and self-employed women workers in Nepal, mainly directed to its cluster at Konkhana, the group said in a statement.
Commenting on the contribution, Bajaj Auto President (International Business) Rakesh Sharma said: "Nepal has seen an unprecedented disaster. In this time of distress we stand by our friends in Nepal and this contribution is a small reaffirmation of our commitment to the people of Nepal."
He further said the company was also ensuring that immediate relief was provided to the affected people through its distributor Hansraj Hulaschand.
Terming Nepal as "a very important country for Bajaj Auto", he said "we have been there for more than 20 years. We have over 3.5 lakh Bajaj motorcycles on the country's roads. We are working with our consumers, dealers and technicians towards the quick repair of damaged vehicles so that people can be mobile once again."
Bajaj Auto's motorcycles are available across 46 districts of Nepal through 175 dealerships and service centers which employ over 2000 persons.
