Barley prices looked down by Rs 24.50 to Rs 1,490 per quintal in futures trading today as traders cut down holdings in line with a weak trend at the domestic spot markets.
Marketmen said trimming of positions at prevailing levels amid constant supplies in the spot markets, mainly attributed the fall in barley prices at future trading.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in June slipped by Rs 24.50, or 1.62 per cent, to Rs 1,490 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,730 lots.
Likewise, barley for delivery this month also lost Rs 13, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 1,464 per quintal, in an open interest of 3,610 lots.
