Rajsthan government will provide purified drinking water in 160 villages of Barmer district for 10 paise per litre from next year.
Under the National Rural Drinking Water Mission, about 160 RO (reverse osmosis) plants would start providing purified water in 160 villages by March 2015, additional Executive Engineer B L Jatol said yesterday.
RO plants are ready in 36 villages after a check of the soil and water quality, he said.
The availability of groundwater is not only very scarce, but its taste is salty, hence RO plants are being installed, Jatol said.
