Base metals fall on poor demand

Most of the base metals fell at the non-ferrous metal market here today on sustained stockist selling amidst poor industrial demand in the backdrop of global uncertainty.
On the global front, the industrial metals copper gained slightly bouncing-off six month lows in early trade at the LME after the US economy showed signs of strength, but lingering global growth concerns kept a recovery in check as markets await China economic data next week.
Nickel dropped by Rs 15 per kg to Rs 1,110 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 1,125 and tin dipped by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,480 and Rs 1,490.
Copper sheet cutting and copper scrap heavy slid by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 445 and Rs 467 from overnight close of Rs 450 and Rs 472.
Copper armature slipped by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 451 as against Rs 455 previously.
Copper cable scrap, copper utensils scrap, copper wire bar, brass utensils scrap all declined by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 477, Rs 427, Rs 505 and Rs 322 from Rs 480, Rs 430, Rs 508, Rs 325 yesterday.
Brass sheet cutting moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 335 from Rs 337 and zinc softened by Re per kg to Rs 184 respectively.
