Model-actor Kushal Punjabi, who today entered 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7' as a wild card contestant, has said that joining the dance reality show in the middle is a big disadvantage.
The 'Kkusum' actor will be teaming up with choreographer Mohena, who was earlier with evicted contestant Purab Kohli, on the Colors' show.
"I have always been an avid viewer of 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. I always wanted to be a part of the show but I didn't know that my wish will be fulfilled so soon.
"I am happy but at the same time feel that being a wild card contestant is a big disadvantage. You have to compete with contestants one month more experienced than you are," Kushal told PTI.
The other wild card contestants on the show are RJ Malishka and 'So You Think You Can Dance' winner Tara Jean Popowich, besides the 32-year-old actor.
Kushal, who choreographs fashion shows, feels that his dancing skills will not help him much as the other eight celebrity contestants are brilliant performers.
"I am not a professional dancer but I have learnt dance as a kid. I love to dance and don't miss any opportunity to shake a leg... But here, the competition is stiff. I don't really feel that my dancing skills are going to help me compete with them," he said.
Kushal started his career on small screen with TV series 'A Mouthful Of Sky' in 1995 followed by 'Love Marriage', 'Don', 'Santaan', 'Hum Tum', among others.
These TV shows paved the way for him to act in films and he landed up doing small roles in 'Lakshya', 'Kaal', 'Salaam- e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love' and 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal'.
But the actor feels that being away from the small screen for quite some time could be a disadvantage for him.
"I will work hard to be on the show. But I think my lack of visibility on the show could be a disadvantage for me as compared to the other contestants like Ashish Sharma, Palak and Mouni Roy, who are also doing other shows on TV. Their fan base is set," Kushal said.
'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7' is being judged by Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'Souza and Karan Johar.
