The 39-year-old actor took to the stage as the Shakespearean character for the first time but due to the overwhelming amount fans, who besieged the venue, a decision was made to place a sign outside the Stage Door stating signings would not be taking place, reported Contactmusic.
The message read: "Mr Cumberbatch will not be signing autographs before or after the performance of 'Hamlet'
"Due to the overwhelming number of requests, Stage Door are unable to accept gifts or items for signing. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause and appreciate your understanding."
The Oscar-nominated actor has been vying to play the Prince of Denmark in Shakespeare's tragedy for a long time and always thought when he reached his late 30s he would be the right age to portray the famous character.
"Hamlet" runs until October 31 at the Barbican Theatre.
