The accused, Chandrakant Mukherjee (58) and his son Samrat Mukherjee (30) - who are father and brother of bengali actress Misti Mukherjee - were arrested from an apartment in a high-profile residential complex in Lokhandwala in suburban Oshiwara locality, police said.
"Acting on a tip-ff, police raided at a 15th floor flat in a high profile building called Meera Tower at Lokhandwala today afternoon, after which nearly one lakh pornographic CDs and DVDs, the value of which is yet to be ascertained, were discovered," Oshiwara police station's senior inspector Nasir Pathan told PTI.
Police also questioned the actress Misti in this connection, but was later let off, police sources said.
Mukherjee family has been staying on rent in a flat owned by O P Gupta, general manager with the BEST, the world's largest civic transport and electricity provider, the police said.
The police clarified that though Gupta was the owner of the flat, he had nothing to do with the crime.
"Mukherjee and family has been residing in this flat at Meera Tower, Oshiwara which was rented out to them by me for the last six years. There was no complaint against the family.
Whatever has happened is very unfortunate and they will be removed immediately," the IAS officer said, in a statement he released today.
About 70 IAS and IPS officers own flats in Meera Tower, which was mired in a controversy last year, when a prostitution racket was busted, the police said.
