Farrakhan, 82, who is the leader of the religious group Nation of Islam, has served as the leader of mosques in Boston and Harlem.
He took to his Facebook page to share the suggestion for the American rapper, reported The Telegraph.
"To my brother Jay-Z: As much as I love and admire you, I want to see my sister, Beyonce, beautifully covered... You're responsible," he posted.
This is the caption of a video interview, in which he says, "Mohammad said where there are no decent women, there are no decent men, for the woman is the mother of civilisation.
He asked Jay Z to get his wife to cover up, because he thinks that the uncovered form of Beyonce is too difficult for any man to look at and stay sane.
He said, "Jay Z is a good man, Jay Z is a good manager, but now, your woman is on display! Do you want men looking at your woman, being temped by your woman, making advances at your woman?"
Farrakhan is no stranger to either the music business or controversy. American band Public Enemy has been his open supporter.
The religious leader was embroiled in controversy when American Muslim minister Malcom X's family accused him of being partly responsible for his death.
